Review: The Tom Leykis Show

tom_leykis.jpg

The Tom Leykis Show is a podcast version of the American shock jock’s radio programme of the same name. I would liken it to an American version Spoonman, but unlike Spoonman, Leykis appears to be devoid of a soul.

Each episode usually features one topic where listeners can phone in and argue with Leykis or other callers. This is often entertaining, but after a couple weeks of regular listening it became depressing.

Ratings for The Tom Leykis Show
8/10 Entertainment value
You might be rolling your eyes or yelling at your iPod, but you can’t knock Leykis for entertainment value.
3/10 Quality of content
Sometimes Leykis makes some good points, but overall he is an appalling human being and offers terrible advice to his callers (who, more often than not, are also pretty awful people).
10/10 Production quality
It’s a syndicated radio show, so the production values are high.
5/10 Lasting appeal
You might listen for a while out of morbid fascination, but if you’re anything like me, there’s only so much you can take before Leykis pisses you off so often it is no longer fun to listen to.
Still, you may get more milage out of the podcast if you pick and choose the episodes by topics, rather than listening to them all.
10/10 Reliability
Again, it’s radio, so very reliable.
5/10 Overall
I’d love to give this podcast -10 just to express my hatred for Leykis, but the truth is shock jocks can be entertaining. I think a lot of people will enjoy these episodes, but I couldn’t stand it for more than around 20.

I used to think Tom Leykis was scum, but after listening to him for a while, I came around and he truly saved my life. Financial advice, education, relationships, he covers it all.
